FPC Solder Mask Color Variants and Characteristics

Conventional FPC solder masks are typically yellow, while white and black options are also available.
The solder mask on FPCs is usually a cover film made of PI (polyimide) and AD adhesive.
The film is pre-cut with solder mask openings and then laminated onto the board under pressure.
Key characteristics are as follows:

1.Yellow Film:
Offers moderate transparency, easy processing, and cost-effectiveness.
Features stable performance and is suitable for most applications, such as various cable assemblies.

2.Black Film:
Resistant to discoloration, with a premium appearance and non-reflective surface.
Provides better circuit confidentiality, often used in high-end or light-absorbing applications like automotive, mobile devices, and LED displays.

3.White Film:
Includes an additional white coating, making it slightly thicker than yellow or black films.
Reflects light due to the coating, which increases laser processing complexity.
Commonly used in applications requiring light reflection, such as lighting fixtures, LED displays, and medical aesthetic products.
